I guess I;m just one more that needs to cry out in the wilderness. Who knows? Sometimes it’s heard.
Facts matter.
Hilariously, those two words are pregnant with political firepower. inconceivably, there are TWO SIDES to that issue! Mull that for a bit. The fundamental principles of the Enlightenment, that reason was the bedrock of authority, that better answers could be found with the adherence to the facts as they are found. Better answers through better questions. The driving force behind our Founding Fathers, Enlightenment thnking dominated the day.
The Enlightenment is over.
At the very least, it is like the ocean leaving the beach just before the tsunami races on shore. And that is the good news.
Why? Because you and I are the tsunami, gathering offshore to strengthen before reclaiming the beach and the land beyond in an unstoppable wave of reason, empathy and commitment to a more perfect union. These were the ideals that the founders held close, never realizing the utter depravity that was possible when wealth and power was consolidated in a relatively small cabal of plutocrats.
Take heart, but stay vigilant. The absurdity of the situation makes it seem like our victory should be inevitable, that a reasonable populace would not let this coup of hate stand. That should be a logical conclusion, but logic has been undermined, facts abolished. We have “news” stations that traffic in rumor and inuendo as “information” that will allow you to “decide”.
Vote your heart in the primary, but when the general arrives, unite. Reason requires that we jettison the undertow that threatens to drown anyone caught in its sucking influence.
This isn’t even progressivism.
It’s self preservation.
