Everything!
For politicos March Madness has begun! I made it to the polls at about 11am and it was largely deserted, but after quizzing some of the election workers it seemed to them that the traffic was up and voter turnout looked robust. Great news! The Left is engaged and fired up. I added my voice to the Bern and we’ll see if his bounce from the early contests will hold up to the full court press that Biden has put on since South Carolina.
So tonight, one of the greatest shows on earth unfolds for hours and hours, gradually revealing a rolling total that spreads across the country from east to west, culminating in the grand prize of the evening, the game changer, California. The polls close there at eleven, and the drama grows and grows as we go through the progressive east to the industrial mid-west, down to the plains and hills of Texas and on to the spectacular mountains and seashore of California.
Much will be clarified tonight. Not the end of the story, but the direction of the narrative will be much more clearly on display.
Wednesday will be a day of celebration for some, wound licking for others. My fellow Bernie voters will form two camps should things not go their way; those that will realign and do what has to be done (me) or those that will think that the end has come and anyone else is a shill. The latter could potentially propel Trump to four more years, but these folks see him as equivalent to the Democratic moderates and the DNC machine. They see no difference between Trump’s complete dismantling of all the institutions of government, reducing them to sycophantic yes-creatures that have no policy expertise in their field and creating a government devoid of insight, vision or inclusion, and the party machines that actually created the Dept. of Education, the EPA, the Consumer Protection Agency and so on.
Don’t misunderstand. Bernie is right. The corporate takeover of America is very near completion and a vigorous and dramatic response is necessary to overcome the plutocratization of the country. He is addressing this directly and sees it as the root of all kinds of evil, as some hippie once said. I am on his side completely.
That doesn’t mean he’ll win. And if he doesn’t, from being a liberal with many issues in my quiver that matter deeply to me I will be instantly transformed into a one issue voter.
He has to go.
Biden isn’t Trump. Warren isn’t Trump. Bloomberg isn…..
Biden and Warren aren’t Trump.
Feed your heart today. Express yourself. Let your flag fly!
But November is something completely different.
